David Newton Jones, Jr., 50, of New Bloomfield, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019, at his residence.
He was born August 10, 1968, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of David Newton Jones, Sr. and Rhonda Lea (Meyer) Conley.
Following graduation from high school, David attended Eastern Michigan University.
He was united in marriage on May 20, 2006, in Jefferson City, MO to Cynthia Gale Schmidt who survives at the home.
David worked for XPO Logistics, previously known as CCX and Con-Way Freight, since 1996 and as the Service Center Manager in the Columbia, MO terminal since 2006.
In his free time David enjoyed outdoor activities, including hunting and fishing. He enjoyed grouse hunts in Michigan with his brothers, uncles and step-father as well as deer, duck and turkey seasons with anyone he could talk into going with him. He was particularly fond of fishing, whether in his boat or fly fishing. He also enjoyed playing video games with his nephews and daughter and spending time with family, including awesome family vacations. Above all else, his greatest love was time spent with his wife and daughter. He was proud to have taught Emma how to fly fish and cast a fishing rod and would attend all her sporting activities.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Jones, New Bloomfield; his daughter, Emma Claire Jones; his mother and step-father, Rhonda and Mel Conley, Milan, MI; two siblings, Gary (Michele) Jones, Monroe, MI; Dani (Mike) Weathers, Milan, MI; step-mother, Karen Dimsdale, Decatur, TN; step-siblings, Misti (Mark) Burtscher, Temperance, MI; Shane (Adrianne) Conley, Monroe, MI; uncles and spouses, Kenneth (Brenda) Meyer, Jr., Chet Meyer, Rick (Donna) Jones, Kenny Jones, Judy Jones; mother-in-law, Harriet Schmidt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pam and Peter Regan, and Jeff and Carla Schmidt; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Jones, Sr.; grandparents, Kenneth and Carol Meyer, Clinton and Mona Jean Jones; father-in-law, Raymond Schmidt; uncles, Dan Jones and Roy Quarrels; and aunts, Rita Meyer, Laverne Quarrels, and Paulette Jones.
A time to remember Dave and visit with family and friends will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday July 25, 2019 and from 11:00 a.m. to noon Friday, July 26, 2019 at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be at noon on Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Powell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for the benefit of Emma Jones’s future educational needs in care of her mother.
