DR. WILLIAM EDMUND BRANDT

Dr. William Edmund Bill Brandt, 74, of Jefferson City, left us to be with our heavenly father on Friday, April 30, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born on January 10, 1936, in York, Nebraska, the son of the late Arthur and Erna Marie Pliefke Brandt living on a farm near Surprise, Nebraska. He was united in marriage on December 27, 1958, in Ferrin, Il., to Carol Ann Eikhoff who preceded him in death on November 30, 2003. On September 4, 2005, he married Evelyn Irene Orcutt who survives at the home. Bill attended elementary school at Cottonwood District #4, Concordia High School-Seward Nebraska for three years, and graduated in Watertown Wisc. He furthered his education by going onto college Prep Department graduating in 1953; St. Johns College, Winfield, Kansas graduating in 1955 with an Associates of Arts degree; Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo. for one year; and in 1956 Concordia College, Seward, Neb. graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1958. He was assigned to Bethlehem Lutheran School in Ferrin, Il. as principal , teacher, and music director in 1958 where he met his first wife, Carol. In 1961 he accepted a position as principal, teacher, and music director at St. Paul Lutheran School, Hamel, Il. for six years while getting his Masters degree.
In 1967, he received his M.S. in Guidance and Counseling from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, Il. Bill, his wife Carol, and their three children moved to Carbondale Il. where Bill was awarded an assistantship in S.I.U. while getting his Ph.D. After finishing the course work at S.I.U., Bill accepted a position as counselor in the Perryville Public Schools in Perryville, Mo. in 1969. In 1976, he received his Ph.D. in Guidance and Educational Psychology. In 1978, he accepted the position of Supervisor Pupil Personnel Services (later changed to Guidance and Placement Services) in the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Jefferson City where he retired in 1999.
Other survivors include: three children, Lori (Rick) Pudlowski, Fenton, Mo.; Dirk (Barbara) Brandt, Brighton, Mich.; Jody (Kurt) Bey, OFallon, Mo.; two step-daughters, Fawna (Fred) Cundiff, Russellville, Mo.; Kathryn Polmateer, Farmington, Mo.; four grandchildren, Justin Brandt, Christopher Brandt, Kristin Bey, Kyle Bey; six step-grandchildren, Tim Pudlowski, Laura Pudlowski, Jeremy (Julie) Bey, Kayla Kitchen, Karla Kitchen, Christopher Kitchen; and one brother, Arthur (Barbara) Brandt, Mesa, Ariz.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
