DORIS ANNE O'ROURKE

Doris Anne ORourke, 78, formerly of Jefferson City, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at her residence in Ballwin, Mo. She was born on May 5, 1930, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Emil Herman and Aurelia Catherine Eveler Roling. She was married on Sept. 15, 1956, in Jefferson City to John Charles Jack ORourke who preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1999. Mrs. ORourke was a 1948 graduate of St. Peter High School and later received her Graduate Nursing degree in St. Louis. A homemaker, she was employed in earlier years as a stewardess on the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, and later served as a Registered Nurse at St. Marys Hospital. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Jefferson City, until moving to St. Louis in 1999. She then became an active member of Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Ellisville where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She was also an active member of the Clarions, and participated in a RENEW prayer group, Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP), a bible study group, and the West County Separated, Divorced, and Widowed Catholics. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl A. and Edmundo Merico, Miami, Fla.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey C. and Lissa ORourke, Seattle, Wash.; Daniel C. and Cindy ORourke, Jefferson City; Stephen R. and Maria ORourke, St. Louis, Mo.; and Michael J. and Anne ORourke, Dallas, Texas; eleven grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Hood, St. Martins, Mo.; Vivian Balkenbusch, Palm Harbor, Fla.; and Peggy Puckett, Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold E. Bub Roling. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation for her St. Louis area friends will be 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4th, at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, Ellisville, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church; Catholic Relief Services; or Salesian Missions.
