DONALD ELIAS COMER

Donald Elias Comer, 68, of Jefferson City died peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on March 21, 2010 at his home.
Don was born May 13, 1941, in Proctor MO. He was the youngest of seven children of the late Ralph and Bessie (Bellamy) Comer. On Dec 19, 1972, he was united in marriage to Judi Ann Thomson who survives at their home in Jefferson City. Don worked as a supervisor at International Shoe Company for nearly 20 years. He also worked in the construction of the Alaskan Pipeline and the Callaway Nuclear Plant. He owned and operated D.E.C. Builders and was a Materials Manager for Apache Lumber Company. Don was a member of the Laborers Local 662 and the Capital City Invitational Pigeon Racing Club. He loved the outdoors and spent countless hours gardening and landscaping. He enjoyed raising doves and racing pigeons, hunting, fishing and was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan and avid cook. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Don is survived by one brother, Raymond Comer of Barnett, and five sisters, Helen Nichols of Eldon, Gene Newsam of Barnett, Mick Hess of Versailles, Lydia Madole of Jefferson City and Joyce Apperson of Eldon. He is also survived by five children: Bobby Don Comer and wife Wendie of Eldon; Angie Dawn Pearon and husband Dave of Eldon; Tim Spencer of Holts Summit; Tina Roccia and husband Matt of Wildwood; and Scott Spencer and wife Tisha of Jefferson City; ten grandchildren Patrick and Brent Comer; Jeremy and Amber Stone; Kelsea, Madison, Bailey, and Roman Roccia; Rylee and Addyson Spencer; and two great grandchildren Aubrey Dykzeul and Addisyn Stone. He is also survived by his first wife, Donna Johnson and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 3pm to 4:30pm on Tuesday, March 30th, 2010, at Memorial Baptist Church in Jefferson City. A Celebration of Life service will be held immediately after at 5pm at the Church. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
