DENNIS HAYDEN GEIGER

October 7, 1947 — January 20, 2008

Dennis Hayden Geiger, 60, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, January 20, 2008, at his residence. He was born on October 7, 1947, in St. Louis, the son of Hayden Ernst and Edna Mae Quinn Geiger. He was married on August 5, 2006, in Jefferson City to Julia Faye Redel who survives at the home. Mr. Geiger served in Vietnam with the US Army with the 229th Assault Helicopter Co. 1st Air Cavalry Division as a door gunner on a Huey, and with the 225th Aviation. Co. 1st Aviation Battalion, as a crew chief. He received the Air Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Dennis was employed with Embarq as a network technician for 36 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God, National Rifle Association, American Legion, Vietnam Helicopter Crew Members Association, VFW Post 1003, and United Sportsman Club. Dennis was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, hiking, and fishing. Other survivors include: two daughters and their husbands, Rachelle and Bob Gilbert; and Holly and Mike Hyde, both of Jefferson City; one son, Sgt. Josh Geiger, of the Marine Corps, Oceanside, CA; one step-daughter and spouse, Stephanie and John Forck, Cedar Rapids, IA; one step-son and spouse, Kyle and Tessa Redel; seven grandchildren; two sisters and their spouses, Ruth and James Heidel, Hermann, MO; and Faye and Joe Boyer, Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lynda Drane. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday January 26, 2008, at First Assembly of God with Pastor Lowell Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Dennis Geiger Memorial Fund for Military Assistance.
