DAVID MACKENZIE DANFORTH, SR.

April 14, 1940 — July 1, 2009

David MacKenzie Danforth, Sr., 69, of Jefferson City, formerly of New Ulm, Minnesota, and Cheshire, Connecticut, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at his residence. He was born on April 14, 1940, in Worcester, Ma., the son of Charles William and Barbara Sarah MacKenzie Danforth, Sr. He was a graduate of Hamden High School in 1957, and a graduate of the University of Connecticut in 1961. He was united in marriage on November 23, 1963, in North Attleboro, Mass., to Maryanne Hillman who survives at the home. David was employed with the State of Missouri in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation as an information technology specialist. He retired on June 1, 2002. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, United Sportsman’s Club, Boy Scouts of America Troop 12, and former member of Independent Sportsman’s Club, Boy Scouts of America Troop 25 in New Ulm, Minn. David was a volunteer with the Samaritan Center and the ABLE Book Sale. Other survivors include: three daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Rick Clark, St. Peters, Mo; Maura and Douglas Schons, O’Fallon, Mo; Meredith and Scot Clark, Middletown, R.I.; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Karin Danforth, Jr., St. Louis Park, Minn.; eleven grandchildren, Abigail, Allison, Alexander Clark; Ellen, John, Roy Danforth; Molly, Adam Schons; Althea, Ian, Grayson Clark; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Carol Danforth, Jr., Baltimore, Md.; three nieces and their families, Karen Jones, Deborah Shelton, Karen Vigue; and two nephews and their families, Charles Danforth, III, Robert Hillman. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, and his in-laws. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at St. Martin Catholic Church, with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
