DAVID JACKSON SCHARDT

August 26, 1926 — January 4, 2011

David Jackson Schardt, 84, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Heisinger Bluffs.
He was born on August 26, 1926, in East St. Louis, Ill., the son of the late Joseph Charles and Lucy Bruton Schardt. He was united in marriage on August 25,1951, to Joyce Pitman who preceded him in death on September 8, 2000.
David served in the United States Army with the 1st Armored Division in Germany during World War II. And with the United States Constabulary after the war. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois with the bachelors degree. David had a long and rewarding career as Director of Regional Operations and Safety and Training for Ameren UE. He was a member of United Church of Christ. David was a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International, 32nd Degree Freemason, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Marine Corps League in Sebastian Florida. He was an expert marksman and loved the arts, especially opera and Edith Piaf.
David was a wonderful husband, father, and friend to many. Survivors include: two children, Dianne Lowry, Jefferson City; David (Term) Schardt, Pataya, Thailand; three grandchildren, Aislinn Lowry, David Schardt, Ameta Schardt; and one brother, Bruton (Patricia) Schardt, Vienna, Va. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizebeth OGara and one brother, Charles Schardt.
The family will hold a private celebration of Davids life. Memorials are suggested to St. Marys Foundation, 100 St. Marys Medical Plaza, Jefferson City, Mo 65101; Lutheran Senior Services at Heisinger Bluffs, 1002 W. Main St., Jefferson City, Mo 65109.
