DARRELL WITHROW CASEY

November 26, 1931 — December 20, 2009

Darrell Withrow Casey, age 78, of Tipton, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2009, at his home after a 14-month battle with cancer.
Darrell was born November 26, 1931, in Chelsea, IA, the son of the late Roy A. Casey and Meta L. (Synder) Casey. He was united in marriage on March 15, 1953, to Doris Faye Puls at Trinity Lutheran Church near Malcom, IA. Darrell graduated from Grinnell High School of Grinnell, IA, in 1949. After high school, he farmed for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict for two years. After his tour of duty, Darrell spent several years in agricultural sales before starting his own business. In 1977, Darrell founded Casey Products Inc. in St. Joseph, MO. Casey Products, Inc. specialized in producing and distributing probiotic health aids for all animal species relevant to the agricultural industry. Darrell retired from Casey Products, Inc in March 2009. In their retirement years, Darrell and Doris lived at the Lake of the Ozarks and in Davenport, FL. Darrell and Doris enjoyed spending time visiting their children and grandchildren in their RV. Darrell was a life member of the St. Joseph Lodge No. 78, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and Moila Shriners, all located in St. Joseph, MO. Darrell and Doris are contributors to the University of Missouri Athletic Scholarship Fund. They are members of the Tipton United Methodist Church, in Tipton, MO.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Casey of the home; his sisters, Marjorie Casey of Des Moines, IA, and Madolyn Braley of Montezuma, IA; his brother, Deane Casey of Malcom, IA; his children, daughter, Debbie and John Sanfelippo and their children, Cristin, Stefan and Kathleen, of Jefferson City, MO; son, David and Linda Casey and their children, Brandon and Austin, of St. Joseph, MO; daughter, Dianne and John Johnson and their children, Bryan and Andrew, of Wildwood, MO; son, Duane and Kelly Casey, of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Doreen and Stanley Hulett and their children, Lauren and Logan, of Tampa, FL; son, Dennis and Teresa Casey and their children, Joshua, Jonathan, and Benjamin, of Marshfield, MO; daughter, Dana and Galen Saunders and their children, Larry Ewing and Jaron Saunders, of Moberly, MO.
Throughout his life, Darrell lived his life to the fullest and brought joy to the lives of everyone around him. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Darrell was an avid golfer, a devoted Missouri Tiger fan and took great pride and enjoyment in caring for his lawn. When confronted with cancer, Darrell met the challenge with dignity, humor and unyielding courage. He will be remembered for his strength, hard work, and sense of humor. He will be forever missed by all those who loved him. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Joseph Muscato of Missouri Cancer Associates, Dr. Tony Spaedy of Missouri Heart Center, Dr. Walter Peters of Columbia Surgical Associates, and Saint Marys Health Center Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Tipton United Methodist Church with Pastor Richard L. Parker officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 2413 Hyde Park Road, Jefferson City, Mo 65109.
