DANIEL CHARLES NIEKAMP

May 13, 1947 — June 7, 2012

Daniel Charles Danny Niekamp, 65, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at University Hospital, Columbia, Mo.
He was born on May 13, 1947, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Charles Francis and Hilda Anna Juergensmeyer Niekamp.
Dan was a Unites States Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam era.
He was united in marriage on November 9, 1968, in Jefferson City, to Linda Louise Kremer who resides at the home.
Dan worked as a brakeman for Missouri Pacific Railroad which was later named Union Pacific for 20 years and later with Scholastic as a forklift operator for 10 years.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Railroad Union, and the 1904 Worlds Fair Society. Dan collected railroad and 1904 Worlds Fair memorabilia. Dan also participated with the Rely for Life each year.
Other survivors include: one brother, Nick Niekamp, Jefferson City; mother-in-law, Louise Kremer, Jefferson City; sister-in-law, Judy (Emil) Spears, Blue Springs; brother-in-law, Tracy Hernandez, Jefferson City; and eight nieces and nephews, Katie Niekamp, Laura Niekamp, Lori Daugherty, Doug Muenks, Kim Gustafson, Steve Muenks, Elizabeth Hernandez, and Alan Hernandez.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Brenda Hernandez and Ann Niekamp; and a father-in-law, Clarence Kremer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Phillip Niekamp, officiating and Deacon Fred Schmitz, assisting.
Burial will be in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 8:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Masses in honor of Dan Niekamp; American Cancer Society, 2413 Hyde Park Rd., Jefferson City, Mo 65109; or Resources for Autism.
