DANIEL AVERY GALLAGHER

July 18, 1931 — March 8, 2010

Daniel Avery Gallagher, 78, of Jefferson City, died Monday, March 8, 2010, at the VA Home in Warrensburg.
He was born on July 18, 1931, in Chanute, Ks., the son of the late Orion Edmund and Julia Galvin Gallagher. He was united in marriage on October 28, 1975, in Tokyo, Japan at the U.S. Embassy, to Kikuko Machii who survives at the home. Daniel was a United States Navy veteran serving for over 27 years during which time he served in Korea and Vietnam. After retirement from the Navy, Daniel worked for the State of Missouri as an auditor with the Dept. of Job Development and Training. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Daniel loved to travel, bird watch, and fish.
Other survivors include: three children, Michael T. (Jennifer) Gallagher, St. Charles, Mo; Patrick S. (Wendy) Gallagher, Leeston, New Zealand; Julia M. Gallagher, Lawrence, Ks.; and six grandchildren, Michael, Alex, Orion, Liam, Caitlin, and Niamh. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Orion Gallagher, John Gallagher, and James Gallagher.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be 12-1 p.m. Saturday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the VA Home in Warrensburg.
