Cletus John Matheisen

Cletus John Matheisen, 88, of St Thomas, Mo., passed away Friday, October 2, 2015, at Oak Tree Villas. He was born on June 26, 1927, in St. Thomas, the son of the late Hedwig Lena Matheisen. Cletus served his country in the United States Army during World War II with the military police. As a result of his service, Cletus had a strong respect for all law enforcement. Cletus worked for the Missouri Division of General Services as a watchman for 16 years. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas. Cletus loved to squirrel hunt and go fishing while sitting on his 5-gallon bucket. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. Survivors include: five children, John (Cheryl) Matheisen, Henley, Mo.; Sandra Ronda, New Albany, Mississippi; Peter Matheisen, Medford, Oregon; Loretta (Bill) Knapp, Boyd, Texas; Juliann Matheisen, Las Vegas, Nevada; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mabel Sinden, Mexico, Mo. He was preceded in death by his mother; an infant daughter and infant son; one daughter, Donna Matheisen; and one brother, Ron Sinden. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas with the Rev. Jeremy A. Secrist officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery. The family will greet friends at a luncheon to follow the committal. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
