Charles Roland Pappas

Charles Roland Charlie Pappas, 65, of Holts Summit, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born June 20, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri the son of the late Nicholas R. Pappas and Mary Ottman Pappas. He served his country in the United States Army from 1972-1979. Charlie received his Masters degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He was married in Kansas to Patricia Klein. He was united in marriage on August 1, 2003, in Jefferson City to Susan Kay Sanford who survives. Charlie worked for the State of Missouri with the Departments of Revenue, Economic Development, Elementary and Secondary Education, and Natural Resources. He retired from the State as a planner with the Department of Natural Resources. He attended St. Peter Catholic Church. He enjoyed bicycling, Harley motorcycles, fishing, guns, all animals, muscle cars especially Fords, swimming, hiking, and RVing. Survivors include his wife, Susan Pappas, Holts Summit; one daughter, Melissa (Curt) Kempker, Jefferson City; three step-children, Laure (Steve) Long, Fulton, Chris Adrian (Lesley Pierce and her child Quentin), Kansas City, MO; Jon Adrian, Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Madison, Camryn, and Hudson Kempker; one step-grandson, Stephen Long; and a brother, Byron Pappas, Bethesda, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Julia Pappas. A prayer service with military honors will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with visitation to follow till 6 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Runge Nature Center, Missouri Department of Conservation, Donations Coordinator, PO Box 180, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0180.
