Charles Melton

Charles "Corky" Melton, 75, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, September 28, 2003 at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born in Jefferson City to Charles Melton, Sr. and Mary Kelpe Melton. He was married on June 12, 1949 in Jefferson City to Idabelle Elder who died on November 13, 1992. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was employed as Quality Control Inspector with Oberman Manufacturing Company for several years. He was employed with the Missouri Department of Social Services; the Missouri National Guard; and retired in 1979 as Title Examiner and Section Supervisor with the Missouri Department of Revenue. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1:45 p.m. at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Charles "Corky" Melton Memorial Fund and may be left at the funeral home. Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Graham, Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Mike Melton of Jefferson City with whom he resided; Staci Ousley, Matt Ousley, and Ashley Ousley, all of Jefferson City; and Chris Ousley, of Holts Summit; and six great-grandchildren. Mr Melton was a graduate of Jefferson City High School and attended Jefferson City Junior College.
