CRAIG JOSEPH SCHNIEDERS

May 20, 1959 — February 23, 2007

Craig Joseph Schnieders, 47, of Jefferson City, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on May 20, 1959, in Jefferson City, the son of Edgar Herman and Madalyn Ann Dirkschneider Schnieders. He was married on July 4, 1987, in Jefferson City to Melissa Gaye Steenbergen who survives at the home. He was a 1977 graduate of Helias High School. From his youth to his early twenties Craig worked for his dad. He later was employed by the Missouri Department of Transportation for twenty-five years as a bridge inspector. He loved the outdoors, especially hiking in the mountains of Wyoming, riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, and making wines from the fruits of the earth. He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral where he served as lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Russellville. He made his Cursillo weekend in October of 2005. He was a volunteer at Jefferson City Correctional Center doing Prison Ministry. Craig is loved and missed by his wife, Missy; two sons, Andrew Schnieders and Benjamin Schnieders, both at home; his mother, Madalyn Schnieders, and his step-father, Charles Hooker, both of Jefferson City; five brothers and their wives, Jeff and Sharon Schnieders; Ron and Tammy Schnieders; Mike and Cindy Schnieders; and Chris and Denise Schnieders, all of Jefferson City; and Jon and Tia Schnieders, Lenexa, KS; two sisters and their husbands, Lori and Pat Concannon, Columbia, MO; and Gail and Robert Hibdon, Jefferson City; one step-brother, Joe Hooker, Glen Falls, NY; one step-sister, Kathy Fernbach, St. Louis; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Linda Steenbergen, Jefferson City; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Michael and Laurie Steenbergen, Jefferson City; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Melanie and Kirby Crane, Jefferson City; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Schnieders, and a niece, Rachael Schnieders. Craig loved God, family, friends and co-workers. His zeal for life was expressed daily in his compassion for others and putting others ahead of himself. A tireless worker and family man, he was a friend to anyone whose eyes met his. Easy and fun to work with, he was truly one of Gods Chosen Children. Craig met God with a smile on his face and a rosary in his hands. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at St. Joseph Cathedral with the Rev. Gregory P. Oligschlaeger officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Schnieders Children Education Fund.
