CLETUS H. DUBBERT

July 21, 1924 — August 4, 2009

Cletus H. Dubbert, 85, of Jefferson City, died peacefully Tuesday, August 04, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on July 21, 1924, in St. Anthony, Mo, the son of Ben and Rosa Steinman Dubbert. He was united in marriage on October 1, 1949, in St. Elizabeth, to Evelyn Bode who survives at the home. Cletus was a United States Army veteran of WW-II, serving with an anti-aircraft battery. Mr. Dubbert owned and operated Meta Motor Co., Meta, Mo., from 1962-1968; Clete’s 66 Station, Jefferson City, from 1968-1978; Clete’s Conoco Station, Jefferson City, from 1981-1984, and was employed with the Missouri Farm Bureau from 1978-1981. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 1968-2008 and the Cathedral of St. Joseph presently; Knights of Columbus; and American Legion. Beyond his unwavering devotion to both his family and his faith, Cletus surrounded himself with lasting friendships. Cletus was a devoted Christian, friend and sports fan. He followed all St. Louis Sports teams, Mizzou football and the Helias Crusaders. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Blues first and foremost. Weekly poker games, landscaping, and afternoons in his chair behind his house watching the animals brought peace harmony and joy to Cletus and to those who were honored to be by his side. Other survivors include: three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna and Daniel Scheulen, Meta; Rose and Greg Friederich, Eureka, Mo; Nancy Dubbert, Jefferson City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Marsha Dubbert, Jefferson City; Kenneth and Dana Dubbert, Jefferson City; eight grandchildren, Kyle Dubbert, Ben Scheulen, Jodi Winegar, Troy Groner, Jami Buffington, Eric Groner, Bo Dubbert, Jessie Friederich; five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Helen Gerdes, Boonville, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Herman Dubbert, and three sisters, Christine Bax, Alvina Mulchek, and Dorothy Millaway. Mass of Christian Burial will be 3 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2009, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Masses, St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, or the Carmelite Monastery.
