CLARENCE JOSEPH MAIRE

August 24, 1925 — March 17, 2010

Clarence Joseph Joe Maire, 84, of Jefferson City, entered into eternal life Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born on August 24, 1925, in Jefferson City, the son of the late William and Rose Ann Sallins Maire. Joe was a 1950 graduate of University of Missouri with an accounting degree. Joe was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict as a submariner. During his time in the Navy, Joe was a ping-pong champion for the Navy. He was united in marriage on August 3, 1945, in Jefferson City, to Betty Jean Sappenfield who preceded him in death on March 14, 1991. Joe retired from Missouri Power and Light as a property accounting manager where he participated with the companies Junior Achievement program for high school students. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and VFW. Joe enjoyed fishing, golfing, sports, bike riding, playing pool, and tennis. He also coached little league baseball.
Survivors include: four children, Pat (John) Stafford, Holts Summit; William J. Maire, Jefferson City; Janice (Joseph) Krachenfels, Elston; Gregory Claude Maire, Jefferson City; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday March 20, 2010, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Dumas officiating. Visitation will be 12 Noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Honor Flight Network, www.honorflight.org. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
