CHARLES NIEKAMP

Charles Niekamp, 88, of Jefferson City, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at Adams Street Place.
He was born on Jan. 23, 1922, in Muskogee, Okla., the son of the late Joseph and Anna Sybilla Berhorst Niekamp. He was married on Sept. 24, 1945, in Jefferson City to Hilda Anna Juergensmeyer who survives at the home. A 1940 graduate of St. Peter High School, Mr. Niekamp was a self-employed painter and wall-paper hanger for many years. He also served as Maintenance Foreman for St. Peter Catholic Church for seven years, and in the maintenance department at St. Marys Health center for ten years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church; Mens Sodality; Roy Sone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1003; and Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post 5.
Other survivors include two sons, Daniel C. (Linda) Niekamp, and Nicholas J. Niekamp, both of Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Katherine Niekamp, St. Louis; and Laura Niekamp, Jefferson City; one sister-in-law, Helen Niekamp, Brazito, Mo.; and two brothers-in-law, Clarence Voss, Linn, Mo.; and Kenneth Lackey, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by one brother, Wilbert Niekamp; and four sisters, Wilma Niekamp, Elizabeth Voss, Mary Owens, and Leoba Lackey; and one daughter-in-law, Ann Niekamp.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at St. Peter Catholic Church with his nephew, the Rev. Philip E. Niekamp officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21st, at the church. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Compassus, 600 Monroe Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
