Billy Smith, 86, of Henley, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at St. Mary's Health Center as a result of injuries sustained in a farming accident. He was born October 29, 1927, in Cole County, the son of the late Ernest and Isabell (Golden) Smith. Billy was a veteran of the United States Army. He was united in marriage on September 17, 1955, in Babbtown, Missouri to Wanda Adelina Mueller who survives at the home. Billy spent most of his life working for the Laborers Local 662 and farming. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served as a Trustee. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, watching St. Louis Cardinals, and spending time with is family especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Wanda, he is survived by five children, William (Brenda) Smith, Henley; Rhonda (Ronald) Ahart, Henley; Mary (Jerry) Kempker, Henley; Bernie (Ruth) Smith, Henley; Bertha (Chris) Kempker, Eugene; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two half-sisters, Ilene (Norman) Rush, Kansas City, KS; and Betty Hoecker, St. Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two half-siblings, Billy Joe Carrender and Shirley Norment. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeffery Merseth officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church or Faith Mission Society in care of 7808 New Church Road, Jefferson City, Mo 65101.
