Bonnie Gene Banks, 59, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born on September 26, 1950, in Irwinton, Ga., the son of the late Bertha Thomas Banks, and the late Roy Richard and Julia Reid Banks. Bonnie was a 1973 graduate of Lincoln University with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and a 1975 graduate of Central Missouri State University with a Masters degree in Criminal Justice. Bonnie was a United States Army veteran. Bonnie was retired from the Jefferson City Police Department serving as a police officer. He also had worked for the Department of Natural Resources as a Special Investigator III. Bonnie had been employed by private, state, and local businesses/agencies. He was a member of St. Paul CME Church in Irwinton, Ga., Capital City Mason Lodge 9, Jefferson City Jaycees, Allah Shiners Number 6 Kansas City, a life member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Fraternal Order of the Police, and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include: one sister, Annie Banks, Jefferson City; and a nephew, Jondrick Foster.
Funeral services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Rev. Margaret A. Redmond, Pastor of Quinn Chapel AME, officiating. Visitation will be 8-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. An Omega Service under the direction of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday followed by a Mason service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jefferson Baptist Church Cemetery, Eatonton, Ga., on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Quinn Chapel AME Church, for the Bonnie Gene Banks Memorial Scholarship Fund, 529 Lafayette St., Jefferson City, Mo 65101; Boys and Girls Club of the Capital City, 727 E.
