BIRLECE EDMONSON

June 2, 1919 — February 23, 2008

Birlece Edmonson, 88, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at her residence. She was born on June 2, 1919, in Cleveland, Ark., the daughter of Cornelious and Bertha Byers White. She was married in Blytheville, Ark., to Thomas Edmonson who preceded her in death. Mrs. Edmonson was a nurses assistant for two years at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital, Hayti, Mo., and at the former Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City for sixteen years until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Second Baptist Church; Womens Missionary Union (WMU); Chancel Choir; Senior Adult Ministry; and was active in the Sunday School program. She served as an assistant in the churchs kitchen and was assistant costume designer for the churchs drama ministry. She was active in the quilting club at Hamilton Towers. She especially enjoyed reading and cooking. Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Dorothy and Richard Parks, Holts Summit, Mo.; five sons and their wives, Thomas and Shirley White, Hayti, Mo.; Wiley and Donna Edmonson, Jefferson City; Chester and Sandra Edmonson, Williamsburg, Va.; William and Gwendolyn Edmonson, Jefferson City; and Alford Edmonson, Kansas City, Mo.; ten grandchildren, Christopher McDaniel; Shawn McDaniel; Tamika McHenry; Chester Edmonson, Jr.; Katrina Ramirez; Alicia Edmonson; Kesha Edmonson; Shirelle Larry; William T Edmonson, Jr.; and Jemese Edmonson; nine great-grandchildren, Kirstin McDaniel; Erica Edmonson; Latrail Edmonson; Chestina Edmonson; Charles Charlie Ramirez; Kyan Edmonson; Isaiah Ramirez; Camryn Larry; and C.J. Larry; and one brother, Jerrell White, Sr., College Park, Ga. She was preceded in death by one son, Floyd McDaniel, Jr.; three sisters, Genora White, Ida Byers, and Victoria Martin; and two brothers, James White, and Napolion White. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Cornell C. Sudduth, Sr., officiating. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the Church. Memorials are suggested to The Special Learning Center, 1115 Fairgrounds Road, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
