BERNICE SZYMCEK GAVILSKY

Bernice Szymcek Gavilsky, 88, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 11, 1916 in Olgesby, Illinois, the daughter of John and Helena Szymcek. She was married on May 4, 1940 in St. Louis to Anthony Joseph Gavilsky who died on Oct., 13, 2000. A homemaker, Mrs. Gavilsky was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Survivors include several nieces and nephews including a great-niece, Shelby L. Hearne, Holts Summit, who cared for her; and two sisters-in-law, Kati Sawicki and Marie Szymcek, both of Granite City, Illinois. She was preceded in death by one brother, Victor Szymcek; and three sisters, Virginia Perotka; Helen Stolaroff; and Sophie Szymcek. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home, Granite City, Illinois. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Illinois.
