BERNARD JOHN STEGEMAN

Bernard John Stegeman, 74, Westphalia, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on July 11, 1933, in Folk, MO, the son of William J. and Marie C. Recker Stegeman who preceded him in death. He was married on Aug. 9, 1958, in Westphalia to Betty L. Holterman who survives at the home. Mr. Stegeman was a U.S. Army veteran and had worked for forty years with Wildacres, a wild-life preserve. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Folk; Westphalia American Legion Post 544; and Western Catholic Union. Bernard trained and hunted with coon dogs where he came close to winning the Governors cup with his coon dogs. He also refurnished furniture, could build anything from nothing, and enjoyed to fish. Other survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Diane and Bill Lueckenhoff, St. Thomas; Marlene and Dave Luebbering, St. Thomas; Janet and John Luebbering, Wardsville; and Mary and John Cremer, Jefferson City; one son and his wife, Roger and Carri Stegeman, Dyersburg, TN; twelve grandchildren, Kristin Morris; Ryan, Kara, and Jason Lueckenhoff; Michele Rudroff; Jennifer Luebbering; Nick and Jill Luebbering; Brooke and Jacob Stegeman; and Lizzie and Scott Cremer; one great-granddaughter, Ava Morris; and one sister and brother-in-law, Roselyn and Wilbert Wankum, Meta. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday October 1, 2007 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Folk, with the Rev. Mark A. Porterfield officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Cemetery, Folk. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday September 30, 2007 at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
