Arbell Louise Vogel

Arbell Louise Vogel, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019, at St. Joseph Bluffs.

She was born December 24, 1928, in Bonnots Mill, the daughter of Joseph John and Opal Louise (Bonnot) Schmid.

Arbell was a 1945 graduate of Frankenstein High School.

She was united in marriage on October 1, 1949, in Bonnots Mill to Julius Louis “Dude” Vogel who preceded her in death on April 28, 1992.

As a young woman, Arbell moved to Jefferson City. After her marriage to Dude she held several jobs, most recently as a secretary in the rectory at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, while also raising her children.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Immaculata Club. Arbell volunteered many years at St. Mary’s Health Center as the front desk receptionist, and at the Samaritan Center. She enjoyed playing games including cards, dominoes, puzzles, and casino trips with her family and friends. She traveled extensively with her husband, Dude, to local and state horseshoe tournaments.

Survivors include five children, Sam (Mary) Vogel, Laurie; Russell (Diana) Vogel, Jefferson City; Barbara (Howard) Henry, Liberty; Roger (Angele) Vogel, Bonnots Mill; Philip (Linda) Vogel, Jefferson City; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Donald (Patsy) Schmid, Linn; six sisters, Dorothy (Don) LeCuru Welch, Jefferson City; Emma Bonnot, Jefferson City; Vera Gerling, Jefferson City; Anna (David) Groner, Berger; Hilda (Leon) Eichholz, Wardsville; and Ruth (Albert) Miles, Monroe City. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, including her long time neighbor, Rose McMurtry, who was like a sister to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dude; a grandson, David William Luna; a brother and his wife, Leonard “Bud” and Carolyn Schmid; two sisters and their husbands, Rose and Bernie Dudenhoeffer, Irene and Ron Muenks; and three brothers-in-law, Louis Bonnot, Richard LeCuru, and Don Gerling.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald J. Antweiler officiating.

Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
