Alan James AuBuchon

June 7, 1934 — April 9, 2016

Alan James AuBuchon, 81, of Holts Summit, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016, at his home. He was born June 7, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Clyde James and Norma Jeanne (Deuchert) AuBuchon. He attended Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary School. In 1955, he graduated from Cleveland High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Personnel Management from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1961. Alan served with the United States Army and was stationed in Germany with a mobile artillery unit. He was united in marriage on May 15, 1965, in St. Louis, to Mary Lea Noonan who survives. They met in St. Louis and relocated to Jefferson City after marriage. Alan worked for the Missouri Department of Employment Security retiring as an Assistant Director. Following his retirement from the Dept. of Employment Security he consulted with the United States Department of Labor in Macedonia, Romania, and Poland to create and implement employment service programs for those nations. Alan was very proud of his career to help others find employment. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Jefferson City Rod and Gun Club. Alan was extremely well read and checked out books weekly from the library. He enjoyed the company of his friends who were regulars at morning coffee meetings. Alan and his friends were continually pulling pranks on one another throughout their life in varying degrees of preparation and complexity. He was a gracious man who shared his wit and wisdom in such a manner that those who received his words often required a moment of reflection to truly understand the nature of his comments. Alan was an outdoor enthusiast and very connected to the land around him. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and especially fly fishing. He loved to fish for trout in the spring-fed streams of southern Missouri. Many in Jefferson City may recall buying peaches or apples at the local orchard he and his wife worked so hard to create. Survivors include his wife, Mary AuBuchon, Holts Summit; three children, Robert (Michel) AuBuchon, Alexandria, VA; Richard (Betsy) AuBuchon, Lohman; Christine (Matt) Bremmerkamp, Benton, KY; and nine grandchildren, Paul AuBuchon, Alan AuBuchon, Evan Bremmerkamp, Ashley Bremmerkamp, Sarah Bremmerkamp, Maddie Morgan, Anna AuBuchon, Scarlett AuBuchon, and Connor AuBuchon. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Norma Jeanne Minogue. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev.
