ARLENA M. POIRY

Arlena M. Roberts Poiry, 93, Jefferson City, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at Golden Living Center. She was born on October 24, 1914, in Wainwright, Mo, the daughter of George Washington and Lauretta Roberson Roberts. She was married on February 2, 1939 in Jefferson City to Bernard John Poiry. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1998. During World War II Arlena worked for the federal government at Atlas Powder Company from 1941-1945. Later she worked for the Adjutant Generals Office for the state of Missouri as a file clerk for twenty years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Anns Sodality, AARP, and Missouri State Employees Retirement System. Survivors include: one daughter and a son-in-law, Deborah L. and Donald J. Scheppers, Sr., Jefferson City; and two grandchildren, Madonna A. Scheppers; and Donald J. Scheppers, Jr., both of Houston TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandchild; two brothers, Ernest W. Roberts and Monte L. Roberts; and two sisters, Orelia Pruett and Maude Martin. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Benjamin Nwosu officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donors choice.
