ANNA MAE MCDOWELL

Anna Mae McDowell, 89, of Jefferson City, died peacefully Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at St. Marys Health Center. She was born on February 23, 1919, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Joseph and Emma Rackers Stegeman. She was united in marriage on September 11, 1940, in Taos, to Paul K. McDowell. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1989. A homemaker, Anna worked for Helias High School as a cook. She was a life-long member of St. Peter Catholic Church and St. Anns Sodality. She loved embroidering and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Survivors include: four daughters and three sons-in-law, Norma and Nick Mercer, Holts Summit; Linda McDowell, Russellville; Karen and Tom Kremer, Overland, Mo; Janice and Casey Jones, Jefferson City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Cindy McDowell, OFallon, Mo; Rick and Diane McDowell, Jefferson City; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Becker, St. Louis; and one brother and his wife, Bob and Lorraine Stegeman, Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three grandchildren, Kathryn Sanning; Nikki Smith; Anna Marie Smith; two sisters, Grace Wekenborg; Myrina Wolken; and two brothers, Alfred Stegeman; and Joe Pickle Stegeman. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church Building Fund, 216 Broadway St., Jefferson City, Mo 65101.
