ALMA FRANCES HOFFMEYER

August 27, 1912 — January 23, 2009

Alma Frances Hoffmeyer, 96, of Taos, died Friday, January 23, 2009, at Heisinger Bluffs Retirement Home. She was born on August 27, 1912, in Taos, the daughter of Bernard Francis and Margaret Anna Maria Bruns Rackers. She was united in marriage on October 26, 1937, in Taos, to Clarence Frank Hoffmeyer who preceded her in death on March 19, 2003. A homemaker all her life, Alma was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Almas life revolved around her family, providing for their needs with great love and care. Her greatest joy was time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was known for preparing delicious meals, and many happy hours were spent lingering around her kitchen table. Her unpredictable humor added cheer and laughter to ordinary days. She enjoyed card playing, gardening, and quilting, but at the center of her life was prayer and her faith in God. Other survivors include: four daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Jean and Ted Distler; Marilyn and Ray Hentges, all of Jefferson City; Melba and Bill Hentges, Sumter, SC; Diane and Terry Scott, House Springs; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Mary Hoffmeyer, Taos; seventeen grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant daughter; one granddaughter, Lynne Kaye Distler; one sister, Eleanora Bernskoetter; one brother, Clarence Rackers; and four infant brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, with the Rev. J. David Maher, officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Mid-Mo Chapter of the Alzheimers Association in honor of Norma Jean Distler, 2400 Bluff Creek Dr., Columbia, Mo 65201; or St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 7314 Rt. M, Jefferson City, Mo 65101. Those wishing to email tributes or condolences to the family may do so at the www.dulletrimble.com website.
