ALFRED AUGUST KLEFFNER

November 23, 1921 — December 17, 2012

Alfred August Kleffner, 91, of Westphalia, died Monday, December 17, 2012, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 23, 1921, in Primrose, Nebraska, the son of the late Aloys and Regina (Brockwinkle) Kleffner.
Mr. Kleffner served with the United States Navy from 1941-1946 during World War II.
He was united in marriage on January 12, 1952, in Westphalia, to Dorothy Theresa Berhorst who resides at the home.
Mr. Kleffner spent his life as a farmer and worked for DeLong Inc. as a welder.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. His greatest passions were his family and farming. He loved spending time with everyone especially all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include: thirteen children, Joyce (Terry) Boeckman, St. Martins; David ( Mary) Kleffner, Jefferson City; Diane (Wayne) Mengwasser, Westphalia; Elaine (Dave) Palangpour, Columbia; Ron (Judy) Kleffner, Taos; Danny Kleffner, Westphalia; Janice (August) Boessen, Westphalia; Beverly Volkart, California; Alan (Marlene) Kleffner, Rich Fountain; Annette (John) Tomczak, Wardsville; Laurie (Don) Kleffner, Argyle; Doris Kleffner, Columbia; Valerie (Mark) Haller, Vienna; 29 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond (Irma) Kleffner, Jefferson City; Donald Kleffner, Brazito; and one sister-in-law, Henrietta Kleffner, Taos.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Lance Kleffner; 6 brothers, Lawrence, Otto, Charles, Andrew, Clarence, Walter Kleffner; and an infant brother.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. Mark S. Smith officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
