ALBERT HENRY VERSLUES

Albert Henry Verslues, 79, of Taos, died Sunday, November 2, 2008, at University Hospital and Clinics due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on April 15, 1929, in Taos, the son of Franklin John and Catherine Taube Verslues. He was united in marriage on January 16, 1949, in Westphalia, to Regina Mary Berhorst who survives at the home. Mr. Verslues worked as a carpenter with his dad and brothers in his early years. Worked for 7 years with Cole County Public Work. He was a thirty-five member with Operating Engineer Local 513 as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1996. Albert was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and past member of the Knights of Columbus. Albert enjoyed to tend to his garden, work on his farm where he raised his family, go fishing with family and friends, feed wildlife, loved to walk his dog, and loved nature that included peace and quietness at the end of the road where he lived. Other survivors include: three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Larry Winegar, Jefferson City; Sandy and Felix Reinkemeyer, Taos; Julie and Ken Butch Twehous, Loose Creek; six sons and daughters-in-law, Ron Verslues, Jefferson City; Jerry and Judy Verslues, Jefferson City; Daniel and Marilyn Verslues, Taos; Dale and Emilie Verslues, Taos; Wayne and Brenda Verslues, Taos; Kevin and Carol Verslues, New Bloomfield; daughter-in-law, Janet Verslues, Taos; 26 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild; two sisters, Joan Hoerschgen; Angeline Berhorst; and four brothers, Herb Verslues; Stanley Verslues; Jim Verslues; and Roger Verslues. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles Verslues; a grandson, Chuck Verslues; one sister, Mary Pleus; and three brothers, Richard Verslues; Fred Verslues; and Leon Verslues. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, with the Rev. J. David Maher officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a prayer service at 3 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Building Fund, 7314 Route M, Jefferson City, MO 65101; St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Samaritan Center, 1310 E.
