Edwin John Stegeman

Edwin John Stegeman, 81, of Wardsville, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born July 17, 1937, in St. Martins, the son of the late Herbert and Caroline (Moeller) Stegeman.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was united in marriage on November 17, 1962, to Pauline Bernadine Raab who survives at the home.

He owned and operated Ed Stegeman Construction Company for over forty years.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville and a long time member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Stegeman, of the home; five children, Sheila (Joe) Gassner, Jefferson City; Marilyn (John) Dietzel, Jamestown; Diane (John) Matthews, Jamestown; Karen Petty, Jefferson City; Allen (Andrea) Stegeman, Wardsville; eighteen grandchildren, Cory (Dayla) Gassner, Michelle (Casey) Baumhoer, Melissa Gassner, Jacob Gassner, Colby Dietzel, Marla (Ethan) Strein, Monica Dietzel, Dante Dietzel, Dakota Matthews, Courtney Matthews, Kelly Petty, Luke Petty, Nickolas Petty, Alyssa Stegeman, Conner Stegeman, Sylvia Stegeman, Shay Stegeman, and Skylee Stegeman; three great-grandchildren and one more expected this year; three sisters, Florence Toebben, Vienna; Mary Lou (Fred) Taggart, Jefferson City; Ann Berendzen, Centertown; and three brothers, Paul Stegeman, Jefferson City; Marvin Stegeman (Becky), St. Martins; Robert (Jeannie) Stegeman, St. Martins and sister-in-law, Betty Stegeman, Meta.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Douglas Petty; sisters, Catherine (Leroy) Welch, and Irene (James) Adrian; brothers, Elmer (Mary Lou) Stegeman and LeRoy Stegeman; and brothers-in-law, Ralph Toebben and James Berendzen.

Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles D. Pardee officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Kirchner School for the Severely Disabled, 1403 Riverside Dr., Jefferson City, MO 65101 or to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
