Delphine Therese Monat Tappel Wieberg

Delphine Therese Tappel Wieberg, 93, of Wardsville, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020, in Jefferson City.

Delphine was born September 22, 1927, in St. Thomas, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Martha (Twehaus) Monat.

She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville. Delphine was blessed with many talents. She was a gifted seamstress, sewing clothes for her family and friends. She also made many beautiful quilts and crocheted afghans. An avid gardener, she grew and preserved fruits and vegetables from her garden.

Delphine cared for many children throughout her lifetime, including her grandchildren. She spent many hours playing cards and Rummikub with her children and grandchildren.

Delphine attended St. Thomas Grade School graduating from the 8th grade. As a teenager she worked in the Ball factory in St. Thomas and then worked in Jefferson City at Woolworth’s Department Store and Tweedie Shoe Factory. Later she worked at the International Shoe Company for several years.

Delphine was united in marriage in Westphalia on September 29, 1948, to Henry B. Tappel who preceded her in death, June 10, 1986. She married C. L. Wieberg November 26, 1999. She and C.L. lived in Groom, TX for 11 years. After his death on March 21, 2011 she moved back to Missouri.

Delphine was also preceded in death by her parents, Albert Monat and Mary Martha Twehaus Monat, four brothers, Emil Monat, Victor Monat, Felix Monat, and Sylvanus Monat, one sister, Alberta Heidbreder, two great-grandsons, Hunter Thomas and Bradley Gilbert, one son-in-law Danny Ray Stephens, five sisters-in-law, Juliana Martin, Catherine Hagenhoff, Maryanne Monat, Mary Monat, Lila Monat, and four brothers-in-law, Raymond Martin, William Hagenhoff, James Tappel, and Clarence Heidbreder.

Survivors include one sister-in-law Lucille Monat, St. Ann, three sons, Bernard Tappel (Patti) Osage Bluff, Norman (Butch) Tappel (Christine) Granite City, Il, Patrick Tappel (Larraine) Wardsville, five daughters, Martha (Janie) Niekamp (Bill), Darlene Norment (Doug) all of Wardsville, Grace Stephens, Jefferson City, Marla Suess (Ted) Wardsville, and Karen Tappel, Jefferson City, eighteen grandchildren, Jeremy Tappel (Lori), Sarah McCranie (Rusty), Matthew Niekamp, Nicholas W. Niekamp (Sheila), Anne Gilbert (Jason), Ellen Golden (Brian), Amanda (Mandy) Thomas (Ryan), Cole Norment (Leah), Callie Shikles (Aaron), Joshua Stephens, Samuel Stephens, Anthony Stephens, Joseph Tappel (Tina), Melissa Tappel, Amber Beger (David), Trevor Tappel, Jessica Suess, and Andrew Suess, two step-grandchildren, Ryan Clifford (Lena), Dino Clifford (Terri), twenty-five great-grandchildren, Brady Tappel, Alex Tappel, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Tappel, Connor McCranie, Logan McCranie, Madyson Niekamp, Rylee Niekamp, Derick Niekamp (Staci), Chelsea Burlbaw (Sam), Kyle Niekamp (Rachel Surface), Heather Gilbert, (Caleb Hoppe), Laycee Gilbert, Amos Golden, Walter Golden, Anton Golden, Logan Thomas (Jennifer Hassler), Landon Thomas, Grant Norment, Claire Norment, Bowman Shikles, Harley Stephens, Joseph Tappel, Jr., George Bentley Tappel, Kaiden Tappel, and Wyatt Suess, eight step-great-grandchildren, Zack Clifford, Gage Clifford, Paul Overturf, Jeremy Overturf, Caden Clifford, Isaiah Barnes, Colton Clifford, and Calvin Clifford, two great-great grandchildren, Lucas Niekamp and Conway Burlbaw and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

She is also survived by her eight step-children, Neil Wieberg (Marihelen) Keller, TX, Nolan Wieberg (Kari) Lubbock, TX, Nathan Wieberg (Sheri) Groom, TX, Aaron Wieberg (Darcy) Houston, TX, Anita Irby (Fred) Claude, TX, Marie Wilkins (Tom, deceased) Lubbock, TX, Lenora Brooker (Carey) Trinidad, CO, Janelle Sustaire (Randy) Groom, TX, and their families.

Visitation will be at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, November 30th.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Ignatius Medina officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Stanislaus Education Foundation.
